MCA Band

The Merrimack Concert Association Band meets on Tuesday nights from 7:30PM – 9:30PM in the band room at Merrimack Middle School (31 Madeline Bennett Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054).  The ensemble puts on several concerts throughout the year which include the Winter Concert, Spring Concert and yearly Independence Eve Concert.

Membership in the ensemble is open to anyone of any age or ability. You must be able to provide your own instrument.

Tom Walters retired in 2016 after 38 years of public school teaching and arts administration. He taught middle school and high school bands and choirs as well as classroom music, most recently in Massachusetts, completing his career with 10 years as K – 12 Director of Fine Arts for the Methuen Public Schools. Mr. Walters was director of the award-winning Methuen Ranger Marching Band during his time there, as well as conducting the Symphonic Band and the Ranger Jazz Ensemble. In addition, he taught graduate education courses at Endicott College and has been a frequent festival adjudicator and clinician.

Mr. Walters is completing a two-year term as President of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association, having served as All State Concert Chair and as Treasurer. He is the 2013 recipient of the Lowell Mason Award for Excellence in Music Education, and the 2006 Richard Gorman Award at North Andover High School for contributions to the school community.

Tom lives in Londonderry with his wife of almost 40 years, Susan, a retired elementary school principal. Their daughter, Elizabeth, lives in Washington, DC, where she is executive director for a film competition festival, CINE.
